Our Story

Born in a Garage
We were three friends who got our first jobs together and later studied engineering side by side. Although our careers took us into highly digital fields, we found ourselves craving something more hands-on with the satisfaction of creating something real and tangible. Inspired by Black Friday deals, we filled a garage with tools — a miter saw, table saw, drill press, planer, and dust collector — and got to work. We sought out to build something with our hands and ended up building a business along the way.

Perpetual Re-Designs
We kept making shutters and revising our designs until we felt that they were close to perfect. We made many mistakes and many bad shutters. We pushed ourselves to not follow how shutters have historically been made, but rather how shutters should be made.

Outgrowing the Garage
After building shutters for neighbors, friends and early clients, our 500 square foot garage began to feel cramped. Encouraged by early positive feedback, we made the jump to fully invest in manufacturing our design.

All-In on Manufacturing
We continued to refine our plantation shutter design, with a focus on quality assurance and efficient manufacturing practices. We filled up our 3,000 square foot facility with any and every tool that would help us make the best shutters.

Outgrowing the Shop
After manufacturing for 6 years, we felt that our plantation shutter design and manufacturing processes were as refined as possible. Our workshop began to feel too small, as it quickly filled up with shutters for customers.

Partnering in Manufacturing
We took our final shutter design and manufacturing methods and partnered with another local shutter manufacturer, who had been building shutters for 22 years. Together, we produce the same high-quality plantation shutter that builds on the groundwork started in our garage. Partnering has brought efficiencies of scale that have allowed us to manufacture our quality shutter at a fair price, while enabling us as owners to have continued client-facing involvement.
